Sustainable Agriculture

To strengthen farmers to own backyard gardening
To teach farmers sustainable methods of farming without using harmful chemicals
To encourage farmers to grow nutritious crops and fruits within their vicinity
To train farmers how to make compost manure to improve soil fertility
To promote one drop irrigation as a model off sustainable water management

SURCOD values the community we are working with, due to this collaboration our projects are always initiated with and thought with the community we are serving. Our unique strength is working with communities to come up with sustainable projects which are aiming at reducing their vulnerability from various shocks affecting their livelihood

About Us

Our Core principles

SURCOD's projects can only have an in-depth and far-reaching impact through community participation. Without an active participation and local ownership from the community members - in the planning, implementation, evaluation and sustainability - in our programmes, our efforts are vain.

We strive to design projects in total open-mindedness for external ideas and suggestions. We always consider working with other actors - government offices, local and international volunteers, NGOs - in order to benefit from a combined expertise and also, we also actively engage our community members to participate in different intercultural exchanges.

We constantly strive for gender equality both externally and internally. Our gender empowerment work through projects is sustained within SURCOD as we attempt to show the right example. We see women and men as equal and thus endeavour to suppress the inequalities faced by women.

It is only through strong commitment that we can achieve our goals. With an optimistic commitment to our ideals, we never give up or stop believing in our principles. SURCOD has a vision for Malawi and it will do everything it can to get there

SURCOD attempts to be transparent and accountable to its members, staff, communities, partner organisations, donors or funding agencies and all the other stakeholders in both financial and programmatic senses.
